ScannerGate: Electronic Privacy Information Center confirms Airport Scanners can send images.

Hat Tip: prisonplanet

… Heathrow today denied that naked body scanner images of Khan were printed and circulated by airport security staff, telling the London Telegraph the claims were “completely factually incorrect” because the body-scanning equipment had no capability to print images. …

… “That requirement leaves open the possibility the machines — which can see beneath people’s clothing — can be abused by TSA insiders and hacked by outsiders, said EPIC Executive Director Marc Rotenberg,” according to the report.

“If you look at the actual technical specifications and you read the vendor contracts, you come to understand that these machines are capable of doing far more than the TSA has let on,” added Rotenberg …

… Indeed, when they were first being installed, Australian authorities admitted that the machines don’t work properly if sensitive areas of the body are blurred out – and yet the British government still denies that the scanner pictures show details of genitalia – an obvious attempt to skirt child pornography laws which have been violated with the introduction of the scanners.

With plans being readied by the Home Office in the UK as well as authorities in Europe to introduce mobile naked scanners as well as street scanners attached to lamp posts, it won’t be long before we are naked body scanned to get into public buildings, shopping malls, sports events, and even minding our own business walking down the street. Naked body scanners are already being used in courthouses across America. …

Are the Greeks now giving out the Nobel Peace prize?

I was not going to post on the Nobel Peace prize that Obama received. Everybody already knows about it so I thought, “Nothing news worthy for a blog post.”

I’ve reconsidered this because there is a important point that is missing from the superficial coverage that I have seen. The coverage has been factual, he received the award but has done little to deserve it. There are many more worthy of the award, and if we are going to give an award for “Hope for Change” then there are many additional people who would be more worthy as well. When I think of “hope for change,” I think of children – oh the irony that Obama voted for infanticide and gets an award for what he may accomplish in the future.

A consideration of the bigger picture of what the gift means, what it represents, and why a President would and should consider refusing such an award … is its inferred effect on US foreign policy. The Greeks gave an award to the Trojans in the same vain. It appealed to the ego of the King, It represented a military success and lead to a compromise in the security of the State.

The deed is done, the question is how Obama believes he can live up to the honor? Will he compromise freedom and safety for an unearned legacy and secure neither peace or safety.

Consider this headline New White House spin: Taliban not really an enemy, has role in Afghanistan’s future

Regardless of mocking criticism of dissenters – They have an impact

Reported on WaPo is:

… White House officials are eager to avoid the perception that the president is directly engaging critics who appear to speak only for a vocal minority, and part of their strategy involves pushing material to liberal and progressive media outlets to steer the coverage in their direction, senior advisers said.

When critics lashed out at President Obama for scheduling a speech to public school students this month, accusing him of wanting to indoctrinate children to his politics, his advisers quickly scrubbed his planned comments for potentially problematic wording. They then reached out to progressive Web sites such as the Huffington Post, liberal bloggers and Democratic pundits to make their case to a friendly audience.

The controversy escalated, but by the time it was over, White House advisers thought they had emerged with the upper hand. The speech, they said, was the most-viewed live video on any government Web site in history, and they were pleased with the media coverage of the event. …

Although short of vindication, the fact is that what was spoken on Sept 8th to school children was changed.

In plain language – Leaders Silencing Critics are the acts of tyrants

Obama has recently said, he does not want to listen to those who created this mess. Interesting because he does listen to those who created the housing mess. Even though it has not been widely reported, most people are aware that General Motors did have profitable lines of cars. Oldsmobile line was not shut down because they failed to make money, rather because it was disliked by environmentalists. Unions and regulations have forced GM to play on an uneven playing field stacking the deck for overseas manufactures. Obama wants these people to be in the decision making process -  they should be, for GM to recover they need a level playing field but they should not have veto control.

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (since 2006) ran an advertisement/commentary/column in USA today saying: ‘Un-American’ attacks can’t derail health care debate.

First I would like to defend seniors; they did not create the problem of the rising costs of health care. If you want to start a list John Edwards should be on it. Some senior may have used ER services when they did not need to – not because they had a sore throat but because they did not know if they had a serious condition. Look carefully at those who have contributed to the problem, they are not on the side of those who do not want to nationalize health care.

People who have elected to create a health saving account and get insurance with a very high deductible have not created the problem. Health saving accounts has always been a method to reduce the cost of health care because it allows these people to shop around. Some may have elected to go without insurance at all.

Yet reading between the lines, those who want America to have socialized health care, call these people out as why we must have it! One who watches politics carefully may say of course they are the ones being pointed at because they have a solution, they are the defacto opponents. There solution makes more sense, allow everybody access to a small amount of money … the majority of the problem exists from excess of costs for minor issues.

Critics of Obamacare have not silenced the bully pulpit – and Obama spins his words with such skill that many point to him as an example of how the Antichrist would sound. Who else could make such a claim and have any body take it seriously? Who else could make the totalitarianism of silencing the American people sound like something we want to do?
